Come some of the MUSIC..

吴宗宪:"女人,不要被老击败". Another lame but funny statement that i heard from his TV show.

Jacky Wu (吴宗宪) is a famous taiwanese singer, comedian, director and TV presenter. He is my favourite TV host. He never failed to entertain me with his unexcepted jokes.

Some of his Lame Questions from his TV show:
1 哪种动物贴在墙上?海豹(海报)
2 哪两个英文字母放在一起会爆炸?OK 棒(BANG)
3 水饺是男的还是女的?男的 - (因为它有包皮)
4 小白加小白等于?小白兔(Two)
5 哪一个卡通人物最爱帮助别人? 小叮当 - 最爱伸出圆手(伸出援手)

Freebies from IT seminar

Blue Coat Rubik's cubeWent to an IT seminar by one of the local SI(Systems Integrator) at a Hotel in Orchard today. Beside the free lunch, got some interesting freebies.

Got this nice Rubik's cube from Blue Coat Systems, a company mainly on selling network security and management appliances.
This Rubik's cube takes me longer time to solve as you also need to align the wording on each cube.

I also got 2 interesting T-shirts from Splunk.com, an IT search company, which their product does real-time indexing of logs, codes, webpages and etc.
Each T-shirt comes with a "funny" tagline on the front and the company name "splunk" on the back. I got the one with "Because ninjas are too busy." and "Log, I am your father.". Best of all, they are printed on Hanes cotton T-shirt.

My first bay run (Army Half Marathon)

Starting pointI have join the SAFRA Singapore Bay Run & Army Half Marathon event. The event was held on 24 Aug at the Padang. Finally i got to experience what a marathon event is like. I am running the 10KM (Competitive) run

I did not do any training for this run. To many, 10KM is a short distance and no training is required. But for me, i have never run more than 10KM in my life.

It was a nice experience running around Raffles/Marina area in the morning. The starting point is from the Esplanade Bridge. The run passes by CBD office building, running on expressway, passing the Flyers and also the floating stadium. Ending infront of the Supreme Court.

Cert and medalIt tooks me 1hr and 15mins to finish my 10KM race. Not a bad timing for my first attempt. I am given a medal (shown in the picture) and unlimited cans of 100Plus and ice mountain for completing the run. A certificate with the official timing will be mailed to me in a later date.

Beside the half marathon and 10KM run, there are also 6 or 10KM fun run (non-competitive) . A certificate of participation (shown in the picture) and a goodie bag will be given to the participant of the fun run.

Shitty Story

Forrest DungSomeone send me this story, which I have heard of several years back. After these years, i still feel that the "Moral of the story" is very "enlightening". Many of you may have heard it before.

The Story
A little bird was flying south for the winter. It was so cold that the bird froze and fell to the ground into a large field. While he was lying there, a cow came by and dropped some dung on him. As the frozen bird lay there in the pile of cow dung, The warm of the dung actually thawing him and protect him from the cold. He lay there feeling warm and happy, and soon began to sing for joy. A passing cat heard the bird's singing. Following the sound, the cat discovered the bird under the pile of cow dung, and promptly dug him out and ate him.

Morals of the story
1> Not everyone who shit on you is your enemy.
2> Not everyone who gets you out of shit is your friend.
3> And when you're in deep shit, it's best to keep your mouth shut!

Popular Fried Kway Teow in Ghim Moh

Guan Kee Fried Kway TeowIt is my weekly Sunday walk/jog with my mum in Ghim Moh canal and breakfast in Ghim Moh Market. Always saw a long queue infront of this Fried Kway Teow store, so decided to give it a try.

The queue was least than 10 persons but i waited 20mins. The Char Kway Teow was above average (better than many in foodcourts) but was highly rated by various news articles and TV shows (from various newspaper cuttings and photographs on the store).

Red Star and Money Not Enough

Red Star RestaurantToday my company having a shutdown and i am forced to take leave. Decided to bring my parents for Tim Sum in the morning (饮早茶). I chose Red Star Restaurant at Chin Swee Road. It is a very famous restaurant (in the old days) because of the owner, a Singapore renown chef (one of the four top chef in Singapore known as Four heavenly chef 四大天王).

The restaurant remains with the 80s setup, reminds me of the Crown restaurant in Queenstown (which my parents used to bring me when i was a kid). It is also the remaining few restaurants with push-cart tim sum.

Ye Zi Mei BaoBesides the "standard" tim sum, we also ordered the famous Amy Yip Bun (叶子眉包). From the picture, you can see how big is the bun.

After a sumptuous breakfast, we went for a walk at Central shopping mall and later head down to Marina Square for a Movie, Money Not Enough 2. Senior Citizen get half price of $4 when watching during weekdays. So it is a good choice to watch movie with them during weekdays.

The Movie continues with the usual funny with "anti" government contents. But this time, Jack Neo included more Computer Graphic and more touching storyline. Overall, it is a good movie (especially watching with my parents).

I cannot remember when was my last time watching a movie them but i enjoy this one.

So when is the last time you watch a movie with your parents?

Good Porridge in ABC market

Went for a morning walk with my mum and decided to go ABC market for Breakfast.

We order the Pork with century egg porridge(皮蛋廋肉粥) from the famous porridge store (on TV).

Their porridge was quite smooth (not as smooth as Crystal jade's porridge) and the 油条 was crispy.

I will recommend a try if you like porridge but the porridge in Hong Kong (beside Majestic Hotel) is still my favourite.
